What data does iApartments collect?
iApartments collects data to ensure an exemplary experience as well as to enhance our support. Information includes: Basic information you or your community have provided such as your name, email, or address; sensor data from devices connected your iApartments account; device and app usage data.
What does iApartments do with my data?
The data we collect is used exclusively to provide the best user experience.
How is my data on the iApartments platform protected from unauthorized access?
iApartments is powered by industry leading security standards hosted on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform. For more information, please visit aws.amazon.com/security.
iApartments is also SOC 2 Type II certified. SOC 2 is a voluntary compliance standard for service organizations, which specifies how organizations should manage customer data. The standard is based on the following Trust Services Criteria: security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, privacy.
In addition to these standards, iApartments regularly performs third-party penetration testing on our platform website, mobile apps API and our platform core and complies with OWASP IoT standards.
Does my community’s management and maintenance team know when I’m home or have come or gone to my apartment?
No. Your personal apartment activity (ex. lock or unlock) or location is not visible by your community’s management or maintenance team. They have visibility to their team’s or vendor’s activity and the sensor data (ex. humidity or leak detection), battery levels, and health statuses of your smart devices so they may assist with replacement and maintenance.
Are there any microphones or cameras in the iApartments devices?
No. The iApartments Thermostat and devices do not contain any cameras or microphones. If you would like to enable voice control of your home, you can set up your own Amazon Echo device and enable the iApartments Alexa integration.
